Hump Day!

"Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike, Mike - what day is it Mike?" cries the camel in this memorable ad for Geico Car Insurance that has had more than 17 million views and   1.6 million shares.

Everybody knows Geico's slogan: 15 minutes could save you 15% or more on car insurance. However, you usually visualize a talking gecko.

The main idea of the video is simple. The happiness of the camel is supposedly equal to the joy people who save money on car insurance (presumably with Geico) have. The video sticks with you, though, because of its contagious humor. A slang term for Wednesday is 'hump day' representing the 'hump' a person must overcome halfway through the work week. Humor is added when a camel is excited for Wednesday because of the camel's possession of a hump. The camel's tone and annoying nature makes the viewer chuckle at the perturbed coworkers. Geico has had this commercial played on several channels and at several times, so it has become incredibly popular.

It is hilarious to find out that a school in Connecticut has actually banned students from quoting this Geico commercial. Apparently, kids were screaming "Hump Day!" throughout the school week, leading to teachers' frustration and irritation. Some people seem disconcerted, seeing this issue as a minor one with regards to other things happening in the world.

I still think the video is funny every time I watch it, and I'm not surprised when I hear someone quote the silly camel. It still makes me laugh.
