The Baby in You

After seeing this ad, I realized different ways advertisements can be effective. In this ad, we don't even learn what the product is until that last couple seconds. Instead, we watch a goofy video in which adults  see their "baby-selves" in the reflection of a mirror, mimicking their every move. For some reason, lots of people find it funny when babies look or act like adults, which is why this ad is so captivating and keeps us smiling the whole time. In the short clip of this video when the product is finally revealed, all the viewer sees and hears is, "Evian, drink pure and natural. Evian, live young."

Of course what the company wants you to think is that if you drink their "pure and natural water" then you will feel younger, which as we age, many adults yearn for that feeling. However, when a consumer sees the case of Evian on the shelf, they might remember this ad. They might think, "Oh, this was from that funny commercial of the babies dancing like adults" as they smile again as they recall the silly commercial and put that case of water in their shopping cart instead of the case of Dasani right next to it.

This ad is effective because although the product isn't a large part of it, it's something consumers will remember so when it comes time to choose between different brands of the same product, bottled water for example, they will choose the brand they remembered most and liked the most. Especially when cute dancing babies are involved.
