I found this ad while scrolling through a "best of" website for Super Bowl commercials. Super Bowl season is definitely a time known for its advertisements and commercials. Part of the fun in watching the Super Bowl every year is to watch the commercials, which is interesting because any other day of the year, who actually likes commercials?

This commercial is actually similar to the Axe commercial Sophia posted last week, but differs slightly in the delivery of the message. In many Axe commercials, the girls flock to the boy wearing the body spray. In this commercial, the man is actually tuning into the woman. A notable difference there, man to woman versus girl to boy. It seems like Old Spice is trying to look more mature, maybe to broaden their potential market.

Also, this commercial is weird. Personally, if I were at a glamorous party and some man walked in draped in wolves, I'm not sure how attracted I would be. But he was wearing Old Spice Irresistible body spray, which changes everything. When the woman says, "there was something that set him apart," you might think she is referring to the growling wolves, but no, it's the way he smells.

The line I found most interesting was at the end of the commercial when the woman said "I never had a chance." So basically, since he was wearing the Old Spice body spray, there was never a chance she couldn't be seduced by him. It wouldn't matter if he was boring, or creepy, weird. At least he smelled good. Of course Old Spice wants the men watching this commercial to see this and think "okay if I wear this body spray, I will be so desirable when I go out tonight." And although scent is one of the first things people pick up on when approached by another, this ad is definitely dramatically exaggerated.
