The
advertisement made by John Lewis for Christmas in 2012 told a story between two
snowmen. On the Christmas Eve, kids made two snowmen, one with scarf, the other
with no scarf. Feeling sorry for the other snowman, the snowman wearing the
scarf traveled long distance just to buy the other snowman coats as Christmas
gift to help her get over the chilled winter. The hauntingly beautiful music
flows along with the scenes how the snowman got over so many difficulties to
buy the gift was so emotional. The sweet smile was so remarkable when the other
snowman had put on the new clothes. It just reminded me of the smile of my
parents when I put on my new clothes on the New Year’s Eve, and I just felt so
cared for. I believe, not only myself, any other people who saw the two
personalized snowmen would always thought of their families and friends, and
the care and love they received from them. Not until the end of the
advertisements did the company mentioned the name of the department store, John
Lewis. Actually this is the biggest and most popular department store in
Britain with 138 years of history. Frankly speaking it isn’t necessary to spend
so much time and effort on advertising this department because it has already been
the largest and most successful department store known by everyone, but the
department store spent almost $7 billion on it. I personally really appreciate
the sincerity of the department store, its kind and considerate to convey some
happiness and warmth to whoever sees the story the advertisement tells.
